Leadership Principles Shared at Murdoch University in Perth

André Lacroix recently visited Murdoch University in Perth, Australia – a leading academic institution known for its innovative approach to education and the award-winning Boola Katitjin building that embodies the future of learning.

Opened just last year but steeped in centuries of history, the Boola Katitjin building was named by local Indigenous elder Dr. Richard Walley OAM and translates to “lots of learning.” It includes 21 state-of-the-art teaching spaces, technology labs, and informal student areas designed to foster collaboration and creativity among the next generation of leaders.

The Rosemary van den Berg room, named after the first Indigenous PhD graduate in Western Australia, serves as a powerful tribute to the university’s commitment to inclusivity and respect for the achievements of Australia’s First Nations. Constructed from renewable mass timber, the room also sets a benchmark for sustainability and provided an incredible setting in which André shared the 10 principles of good leadership outlined in his book, Leadership with Soul.

During his seminar, André and the students explored the vital role leaders play in building highly motivated teams and fostering an environment where everyone’s diverse perspectives are valued and respected. He explained that the most effective leaders ensure that every individual feels highly energised in the workplace. By taking a humanistic approach, businesses have a real opportunity to reach new heights and create sustainable growth that benefits all of society.

Appreciation is extended to everyone at Murdoch University for hosting André and to all the students who attended. He wishes them every success in their future careers and is confident they will have a positive impact on those they lead.
