Shenzhen’s students learn to lead with soul

Shenzhen is an incredible centre of excellence for technology-based innovation and has benefitted from remarkable growth in the last few decades. The city’s buzzing streets, vibrant architecture and energy of its people leave a lasting mark on all visitors.

It is a thriving hub of technological innovation, home to tech giant Huawei, internet services firm Tencent and drone maker DJI, and is considered China’s very own Silicon Valley. At the forefront of China’s progress, Shenzhen occupies a central place in the global economy.

While visiting the city last month, André Lacroix was privileged to be asked to speak with students at the Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School, a world-leading centre of research and expertise in the fields of energy, transportation, manufacturing and logistics.

This was a great opportunity for André to share his views on good leadership with an audience that will go on to work in industries which are mission-critical to the world, and he was particularly inspired to see how interested students were in learning about his new, more humanist approach to leadership.

André left the city confident that China’s young scientists, engineers and logistical specialists will harness the power of Shenzhen’s cutting-edge technological expertise to have a long-lasting impact on the world. He is sure they will lead with soul and play a pivotal role in charting the course towards a more sustainable future for all.
