Setting the standards of sustainability
As part of his visit to India last month, André Lacroix was fortunate to visit the city of Tiruppur, where he met with members of the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association (TEA).
TEA has been instrumental in helping Tiruppur grow over the last five decades into the largest and the most promising knitwear export cluster in India, and a major player in the world of knitwear globally. André was deeply impressed by the pioneering sustainability work that the Tiruppur cluster is doing with world class initiatives in all factories.
During the meeting, he was happy to learn about the Tiruppur cluster’s sustainability journey and all the activities the various factories are engaged in. This includes wind and solar power generation, employing circularity to produce recycled fabric from waste, lake and river rejuvenation, rainwater harvesting, and many more initiatives designed to make a positive impact.
Sustainability is indeed the movement of our time and Tiruppur is setting an example not only for India, but for the rest of the world to step up actions for a more sustainable industry. In the process, Tiruppur has also improved its competitiveness amongst buyers and consumers alike, ensuring its future success.
André looks forward to following TEA’s journey to make Tiruppur one of the biggest and most sustainable knitwear clusters in the world, helping to create a more sustainable industry.
Well done, TEA!
