Leadership with Soul principles shared at Newcastle University’s Singapore Institute of Technology
André Lacroix had the privilege of visiting Newcastle University’s Singapore Institute of Technology (NU-SIT), a pioneering partnership between Newcastle University and SIT that has been shaping future leaders in Electrical Power Engineering, Mechanical Design, and Manufacturing Engineering since 2011.
During his talk, André had the opportunity to share insights from his book, Leadership with Soul, focusing on how a human-centred approach to leadership can drive sustainable growth and foster greater engagement within organisations.
The students were particularly interested in learning about the qualities that define a good leader — from emotional intelligence to placing people at the heart of decision-making. André emphasised the importance of challenging conventional leadership methods by staying curious and embracing new approaches.
He was pleased to see how the event brought together an engaged audience of students from across 16 faculties, along with senior academic leaders, each contributing unique perspectives and backgrounds. From the warm reception his talk received, it was clear that the next generation is more than ready to take on the challenges of tomorrow.
Appreciation is extended to Professor Jonathan Galloway and everyone involved at NU-SIT for organising such a thought-provoking event.
