Empowering Future Leaders Through Student-Led Learning
André recently visited the International Business School Maastricht at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences, where he had the opportunity to learn more about its innovative approach to education and student development.
A particular highlight of the visit was the Student in the Lead approach, which places students at the centre of their own learning journey. By encouraging students to take ownership of their development, challenge themselves, provide feedback and actively contribute to improving the programme, the approach creates an environment where faculty act as coaches, offering guidance and support along the way.
For André, this approach reflects an important principle of great leadership: empowering people with the trust, opportunities and support they need to take responsibility for their own development and reach their full potential.
The visit also provided an opportunity to celebrate the International Business programme’s achievement of being ranked number one among HBO-IB programmes in the Netherlands in the Keuzegids 2027, recognising the commitment and collective efforts of students and faculty.
Reflecting on the experience, André highlighted the importance of creating learning environments that encourage independence, confidence and continuous growth. By empowering individuals to take an active role in their development, educational institutions can help prepare the next generation of leaders for future success.
André congratulated the students and faculty on their achievement and expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and the opportunity to experience the Student in the Lead approach first-hand.
